The recap:
Wedding with a horse-drawn carriage
Walled city built in 1533
Infinity rooftop pool
Day 1
Flew from Vancouver to Bogota (with a stopover in Houston).
Went for drinks at the Bogota Beer Company.
Checked into Hotel B3 Virrey.
Day 2
Took the funicular up to Mount Monserrate, with incredible views of the city of Bogota below. There’s also a 17th-century church at the top – Basílica del Señor caído de Montserrate.
Caution: The elevation is very high – 3,152 meters above sea level, so make sure to take deep breaths!

Headed back down into the city to explore downtown Bogota.
Then went for dinner at La Brasserie.
Day 3
Wedding day! My university roommate from Colombia gets married at her family’s farm just outside of Bogota in Madrid.
The property happened to have an old chapel on it, and a horse-drawn carriage! And the dessert included local fruits stuffed with homemade ice cream made from each fruit – the most delicious ice cream I’ve ever had.

Day 4
After party travels to Cartagena – 1.5 hr flight from Bogota.
Checked into Hotel Arsenal, with a gorgeous infinity rooftop pool.

Day 5
Explored the walled city of Cartagena. Went to the Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas – a fortress from the 1600s. Beautiful city to walk around, especially at night.

Then went to the amazing Carmen Restaurant for dinner.

Day 6
Must-do: Boat trip to the Rosario islands – some of the clearest blue waters I’ve ever seen!

Day 7
Last dip in the rooftop pool at Hotel B3 before heading to the airport.
Flew back home to Vancouver with stopovers in Panama & Houston.
Muchas gracias to my university roommate for the invite to her beautiful wedding in her hometown!
