The recap:
Lobster a day
Red sand beaches everywhere
Plus Anne of Green Gables

Day 1

Flew from Vancouver to Charlottetown with my sister and parents for a family vacation.

Context: We had previously been on a family cruise that was meant to stop in PEI but we missed the port due to an extreme storm with 30ft waves, so had to plan a special trip to make up for it. Spoiler: It turned out to be one of our best family vacations ever, even with my foot in an air cast boot after fracturing my ankle just weeks before.

Checked into the Delta Hotel Prince Edward and went for a very late dinner at the Factory Downtown (really the only option for late night food).

Day 2

Explored Charlottetown and experienced our first lobster roll of the trip at The Chip Shack (more to come).

Fun fact: Cows ice cream originated in PEI.

Went for a delicious steak & lobster dinner at Sims Corner.

Wrapped up the night at the Gahan Brewery bar.

Day 3

Went for breakfast at Receiver Coffee Co. Explored more of Charlottetown, including Red Island Cider.

Then picked up our rental car and drove out to the countryside to check into our gorgeous Vrbo mansion on the river.

Enjoyed a dip in the hot tub before the first of multiple home-cooked lobster dinners thanks to the fresh seafood market at Prince Edward Aqua Farms just down the road.

Day 4

Gorgeous sunrise followed by a baby fox encounter!

Explored the area and my sister foraged for oysters in the river (not the most ideal activity for me in the air cast boot, but I still got to enjoy them after). Also got to try the local quahog – basically a cross between an oyster and a mussel.

Day 5

Anne of Green Gables day! My favourite books and movies as a child, so yes, I did braid my hair so I could pretend I was Anne for a day.

Then walked the sand dunes at Cavendish Beach.

Lunch at the Lost Anchor = lobster roll #2.

Then off to see the red Cavendish Cliffs.

Finished the day with a delicious dinner at Blue Mussel Café.

Day 6

Relaxing day at the Vrbo mansion.

Followed by guess what? Another home-cooked lobster meal of course.

Day 7

Drove out to the Confederation Bridge.

Then stopped at Lone Oak Brewing for a beer flight.

The search for the best lobster roll continued at the Lobster Barn in Victoria by the Sea.

Another red sand beach and cliffs at Argyle Shore Provincial Park.

Day 8

Drove out to Thunder Cove Beach to see the Teacup Rock.

Stopped at the Cape Tryon Lighthouse on the way back.

Roasted marshmallows on the campfire back at the Vrbo.

Day 9

Last day for a drive out to the easternmost point of Prince Edward Island.

Stopped at Brackley Beach en route to the East Point Lighthouse.

Then time for one more lobster roll at The Lobster Shack at Souris Beach.

Day 10

Returned the rental car at the Charlottetown airport and flew back to Vancouver.

Truly one of my favourite family vacations ever!
